Why I Love Living in Boise as a Native and Mid-Century Enthusiast
Just A Few Reasons Why Boise Will Always Be My Home
Growing up in Boise, I’ve always appreciated the unique balance this city offers. It’s not too big, not too small, and it has a way of making you feel at home no matter where you are. As someone who has spent my entire life here, I’ve seen Boise grow and change, but what hasn’t changed is the strong sense of community and connection to the outdoors that makes this place special.
Boise Offers the Best of Both Worlds
One of the things I’ve always loved about Boise is how seamlessly it blends urban life with nature. You can be downtown enjoying a great local restaurant one minute and hiking in the foothills the next. The Boise River Greenbelt runs right through the heart of the city, making it easy to get outside and enjoy the landscape year-round. That connection to nature is something I see reflected in Mid-Century architecture—the large windows, open layouts, and indoor-outdoor flow feel right at home here.
A Community That Values Mid-Century Design
Boise has a surprisingly strong Mid-Century community. I think part of that comes from the fact that we’re a city that values history and authenticity. There’s a real appreciation for the craftsmanship and design principles that define these homes and those who built them—whether it’s the clean lines, thoughtful use of space, or connection to the surrounding landscape. Over the years, I’ve seen more people seek out these homes, wanting to preserve their character while making them their own.
One of my favorite ways to stay connected with this community is through the Boise Mid-Century Homes Tour, which takes place once a month on Saturdays. It’s a chance for people to step inside some incredible homes, see the details up close, and meet others who share a love for Mid-Century design. It’s always great to see how different homeowners approach restoration and how they’ve adapted these spaces for modern living while staying true to the original style.
If you’re interested in joining us for one of our monthly home tours, we meet at Common Ground Coffee and Market located at 6419 W Ustick Rd, Boise, ID 83704 at 9:30am on the 2nd Saturday of the month. I hope to see you there!
Boise’s Strong Sense of Community
What sets Boise apart, beyond the homes and natural beauty, is the people. There’s a genuine sense of community here that’s hard to find elsewhere. Whether it’s supporting local businesses, attending neighborhood events, or just running into familiar faces around town, there’s a friendliness that makes it easy to feel connected. People here take pride in their neighborhoods, and it’s one of the reasons I love helping clients find their place in Boise—especially when they’re looking for a home with history and character.
Watching Boise Grow
Boise has grown a lot in recent years, and while change can be challenging, it’s also exciting. More people are discovering what makes this city so great, and with that comes a renewed appreciation for the homes and neighborhoods that give Boise its character. As a real estate agent specializing in Mid-Century homes, I love helping people navigate that process—whether they’re buying their first Mid-Century home, restoring one, or selling to someone who will appreciate it just as much as they did.
Why I Stay
At the end of the day, Boise is home. It’s where I grew up, where I work, and where I plan to stay. The combination of great design, a thriving community, and access to the outdoors is something you don’t find just anywhere. Whether you’re a longtime resident or new to the area, Boise has a way of drawing you in and making you feel like you belong.
If you ever want to talk Mid-Century homes, explore what makes these neighborhoods so unique, or check out one of the monthly home tours, I’d love to connect. Boise is an incredible place to live, and I’m always happy to share what makes it special.
